 Name of the Project : HOMES OF HOPE

Status : on going

Target Group : Children from poverty, deprivation from the rural and marginalized area.

Goal :Socio-economic upliftment of the rural children who become agents of social change.

Introduction : For the development of poor people in the communities of rural and slum areas AMG started Homes of Hope project in 1976-77.  

 The Home is consisting 10 to 20 children according the space and facilities provided in the Home.  Home children are selected from villages and slum areas.  They are from schedule tribe, schedule caste and economically backward communities.  The parents are compressed by poverty, deprivation and are incapable to provide education and other necessaries to their children.  So, AMG came forward and helping the children for uplifting them and wanted to make them as responsible citizens in the society.   The Home parents are committed and concerned in this job.  They are provided Homely atmosphere of living dormitories, dining and comfortable toilets and bathrooms.  They are brought up in God fearing and good discipline manner.     Children are assets of the country and pillars of the Nation. So, AMG took it as a challenge and molding the children as good social elements.  At present 930 children are existing in the Home of Hope. These Homes are existing Visakhapatnam, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts.

STRATEGY APPROACHED:

Selection of the children:  Select the marginalized children as per criteria and on the basis of assessment by Homes parents, when the applications submitted by the candidates/parents/ area elders.

Physical Needs:  Nutritious food, Uni-forms, and living shelter, 24 hours supply of water and electricity- sleeping mats, Plate & Glass,Trunk Boxes and Bed sheets.

Educational Facilities: Books, School Bags, Shoes & Socks and provide financial support to the poor children those who are suffered financially, to reduce the burden on the child’s parents.  Maintain academic registers. Maps of World, Indian and Andhra Pradesh hanged on the walls.

Admit the students in vocational, technical and professional courses as these are job oriented courses.  Provide college fee, Monthly support, Books, and stationery. 

Medical Care:  Conduct Medical check-up for every quarter to the children. Maintain health register. Provide medicines as per the prescription of the Doctor.  Take the preventive from the chronical diseases.

Spiritual Nurture:  Provide Bibles, Hymn books to the children. Conduct prayers both in the morning and evening.  Make them to attend Sunday school worship.  Make them in God fearing.  Taught ethical, moral and spiritual values and mould them to be disciplined persons.

Parents Meetings: Conduct parents meetings on the last week of every month. Make the parents to share the burden of the student in all fields.

Sports & Games: Encourage the children to participate in games and spots of Indore and out-dore.  Provide games materials like Vollyball, Football, Ringball, Skipping ropes, caroms, Chainees Chakker and chess. Inject the sports man spirit to pariticiapte in games and sports.

Cultural Acitivities: Encourage the children to participate and perform in cultural activities.  Provide Musical Instruments, Congo, Harmonium, Doluk, Tabla and to exhibit the latent talent of singing and dancing.

Beneficiaries:  930 children

Out come of the Project:   Some children obtained gainful employment became Engineers, Teachers, Doctors, Computer professionals, Business men, Lecturers and Agriculturist and became responsible citizens in the communities and in the society
