Boon to the Blind

“AMG vision is that both blind parents and children should grow—Parents grow in self-dignity by stopping begging and stations, Bus Stations, entrances of churches, temples and masjids. This is because, being blind and/ or with defective vision, they cannot work and earn for themselves and they have to depend upon another person, to lead them or to help them in all their works and to provide their daily needs/ food.

The common belief, of old-time people in India, is that the blind persons are cursed by the deities, because of their sins in the previous life. However, Christians do not accept this belief, but believe that God, in His wisdom and purpose, creates some persons with some shortcoming, like blindness.  Our Lord Jesus Christ stated in the Gospel of John verse 3, that “Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents; but that the works of God should be made manifest in him”. As the followers of Jesus Christ, we have the responsibility to “Manifest” the love of God, in the lives of these blind persons and “show Christ’s compassion and love for the poor and needy.” AMG India took the challenge and started to explore ways provide help and assistance to the children grow by getting education.”

A common scene we find is that blind persons begging with bowl in hand, at Railway blind persons, for subsistence and financial help to their children to continue education.  When they beg in the streets, people give them coins and some material, with which they may survive but lose their human dignity. Beggars are looked down by everyone. AMG wants to give them comfort and love and human dignity and help them with monthly rations/ food items, to stop them from begging. Besides this, AMG wants to build a strong foundation, for the future of their children by giving them an opportunity to go to school/ college and study. When the child grows up, he or she should be capable to secure a good job and take care of the blind parents.
