Imprisonment damages family life and separates children from parents which in turn affect their education. A survey carried out in a prison reveals that the head of the family is imprisoning in most of the cases thus causes many problems to their families. To reduce this harm AMG started a project to support the children and families of prisoners.
The main problem is that so many of the prisoners are fathers. Fathers are usually the backbone of the family and when they are gone their partners and their children are very much affected. But AMG makes the difference in the lives of prisoners by extending helping hand to their children to continue their studies through monthly education support and monthly subsistence to their families to live a dignified life in the society. We are happy to share the successful story of M. Naga Malleswari who benefited from this project and moving forward to higher studies, in her own words. “I am M. Naga Malleswari from Guntur District. I have two younger sisters. Ours is a conservative family background. My father was imprisoned for the last 7 years for attempt of murder and was sentenced life imprisonment. My mother worked as a labour and earned our daily bread. At this situation AMG moved with compassion and joined me and my sister in AMG RHS, CPT and we studied from 4th grade to Intermediate in AMG. Now I am studying CA course with the education support of AMG. I am very grateful to AMG and wortundtat for their generous support towards my family.” |
